Debra, an educator for over twenty years, fell ill in September of 2013 to asbestos-related cancer, Multiple Myeloma. After sustaining a work-related injury in 2011, Debra spent two years suffering from chronic back pain. After those years of not knowing what was ailing her, Debra was finally diagnosed with the final stage of Multiple Myeloma. As she continues to recover from her recent bone marrow transplant, Debra’s living expenses continue to present a financial burden and emotional strain from stress about much needed home repairs. All in all, Debra maintains a positive outlook and has been inspired to raise awareness for asbestos-related cancers and illnesses. She has even begun writing an autobiography detailing her journey.
