Following a medical procedure in March 2014, Nikki was scheduled for a follow-up X-Ray. The X-Ray revealed that she had lesions on her spine. After further testing, Nikki was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. Nikki immediately went back to work as a home health nurse, but suffered a broken lower back with two fractured discs due to the disease. Nikki lost her job in May and it is unclear if or when she can return to work. Nikki is currently undergoing stem cell harvesting and her autologous transplant will take place any day now. These sudden medical and financial changes have created unprecedented stressors for Nikki and her family. Now, she relies on the support of her mother and daughter. Nikki’s greatest financial stressor is transportation expenses to and from the hospital. This expense will continue as her procedure approaches and her appointments increase. Nikki is teaming up with The Bone Marrow Foundation so family and friends can make tax-deductible donations to be utilized towards these treatment-related expenses. Any assistance provided will assist Nikki tremendously.
The Bone Marrow and Cancer Foundation relies 100% on private donations. Your generous Lifeline Fund donation will make a significant difference in the lives of patients like Nikki.
