Claudia is a sixteen-year-old young lady who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in December of 2005. She began chemotherapy and her course was complicated by multiple episodes of fever and neutropenia, renal insufficiency, mucositis, among several other major complications. Claudia completed all of her chemotherapy in August of 2008. Her end of therapy bone marrow biopsy showed no evidence of the disease. Unfortunately, she relapsed in February 2014 with B-Cell ALL. Claudia received a haplocompatible stem cell transplant on October 23, 2014. She lives approximately two hundred miles from the hospital. Claudia is the oldest of five half-siblings, who are all being raised by their mother. Her mother stopped working in February 2013 to care for Claudia and her half-siblings. The family has relocated near the hospital to be with Claudia during her transplant. Any assistance that can be provided will help pay for living expenses, travel to and from the hospital, food, clothes, and other bills.
