Daniela was 31 years old when she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Since then, she has received numerous treatments including chemotherapy, three surgeries, and regular injections. Daniela received her diagnosis one month after she got married. Plans were in order to move into a new house and start a new life; however, these plans changed once Daniela received her diagnosis.
This past year has been exceptionally challenging. Daniela had to quit her job as a case manager for a law office due to her illness. She has helped the voiceless seek social justice and served as a bilingual liaison to ensure equal access to justice, while in the process of pursuing a law degree to “help those who couldn’t help themselves”.
Daniela is her husband’s pride and joy. He describes her as a very kind and strong woman. He is working extra hours, while still remaining a full-time caregiver, making their bills and finances out of reach. Luckily, a client of Daniela’s husband heard about their struggle and offered to rent them a room. While this lightens some of their load, she and her husband would like to maintain their residence while she is receiving radiation treatment and getting ready to receive an autologous transplant. Her co-pay, per specialist visit, is about $60 and she must pay this about three times per week. Additionally, her insurance premium is about $260 per month.
Daniela has decided to partner with the Bone Marrow & Cancer Foundation to assist her with the costs of housing, gas to travel to and from the clinic, caregiving, and ongoing medical treatment. Any assistance received would be greatly appreciated!
