Elizabeth Young

 

Elizabeth, forty-years-old, was diagnosed with myelofibrosis in July of 2014. Her primary care doctor discovered an abnormality in her blood counts. After numerous biopsies at one hospital, the problem had yet to reveal itself. Elizabeth was then referred to another hospital that was able to uncover her diagnosis.
She is currently receiving treatment there and is expected to receive a bone marrow transplant at the end of 2014. Elizabeth was devastated by the news and in shock of her diagnosis. She knew then what she needed to do to save her life.
Elizabeth is currently unemployed and only receives monthly disability. The only support she has is from her mother, who is also caring for Elizabeth’s niece. Sadly, Elizabeth’s father passed away last year. This journey has been difficult on Elizabeth and her family.
To help offset the costs associated with her transplant, Elizabeth and her family have partnered with the Bone Marrow & Cancer Foundation — setting up a One-to-One Fund to collect donations on Elizabeth’s behalf. This fund will assist Elizabeth with living arrangements, caregiver costs, transportation to and from the hospital and medical expenses. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
