Polly Rankins

 

In 2011, Polly began experiencing pain in her legs and hips. In January 2012, she was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in her lymph nodes. After three rounds of chemotherapy, a PET scan revealed the cancer in Polly’s lymph nodes had shrunk, but found that she also had cancer in her bones. She was then diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in her bones, in addition to the non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in her lymph nodes.
Polly has faced many obstacles throughout her illness. In November 2014, she fell in the hospital and in early December she underwent hip replacement surgery. She has also been, inexplicably, experiencing double vision. At the end of March 2015, Polly will receive an autologous Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation (HCT) transplant and will spend at least three weeks in the hospital. Polly has been taking everything in stride, but the great financial burden that her illness is taking on her family has proved a particularly bitter pill to swallow.
In order to assist Polly and her husband with expenses such as housing, utilities and medical costs while Polly is on break from her job as a waitress at Cracker Barrel, Polly has teamed up with the Bone Marrow & Cancer Foundation.
