Todor Georgiev

Todor GeorgievTodor Georgiev was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma B-cell type while attending college in 2010. That summer he began experiencing pain in the left side of his chest, but at first he did not believe it was anything serious. By October, the pain became very severe, so Todor went to the doctor. Although the doctor believed it was pneumonia, he still suggested a CT scan. The results of the scan showed that Todor had a tumor in the left side of his chest the size of a fist.
Todor met with an oncologist in order to determine his course of treatment.
In December, he began receiving R-CHOP chemotherapy, and after seven treatments, his tumor had shrunk by 50 percent.
Since then, he has met with additional oncologists, radiation therapists, and three bone marrow transplant doctors. These consults determined that Todor would need to start a new type of chemotherapy followed by a bone marrow transplant. This is the only option to cure his treatment resistant cancer.
Although Todor’s student insurance covers a significant part of the chemotherapy, it does not cover the bone marrow transplant. He continues to attend college and works part-time, but the bone marrow transplant is a very expensive medical procedure and he is unable to afford it. In order to raise money for his bone marrow transplant, Todor has teamed with the Bone Marrow & Cancer Foundation to set up a One-to-One Fund. Any help or support that can be given will be greatly appreciated.
