Rakesha Harris

Welcome to my story !

Hello everyone,

My name is Rakesha & I’m 29 back in June I was having some issues with my periods & I kept getting diagnosed with fibroids until one day I was having a unbearable pain and went into the ER. They were giving me all kinds of pain meds nothing worked and then I started to uncontrollable bleeding so they ended up saying I needed a blood transfusion because I was passing baseball sized blood clots and and they were going to remove the fibroid since it was causing way to many issues. Fast forward I wake up and my doctor came in that couldn’t remove the fibroid since they couldn’t differentiate between the 6cm mass and the fibroid & at that time they couldn’t tell if it was benign or malignant.

About a month goes by I go see an oncologist and he told me he was 99% sure it was cancer . My whole world shifted from … how could I ? There’s no way. I had to get 3 biopsies before they found out what cancer I had July 17th I was diagnosed with a low grade stage 1 adenosarcoma & I needed a hysterectomy & that was the treatment plan a hysterectomy that’s it .. or I thought . By the time they took my tumor out it was 13cm .

On August 15, I got a total hysterectomy at the age of 29 with no kids . Heartbroken but I was blessed I went in for my post op with high hopes . My oncologist sat me down & said that it was some news we didn’t anticipate. While giving me my hysterectomy he seen my right lymph node enlarged and took it to pathology to just make sure everything was okay, it wasn’t . My cancer spread and it was worst , I had a high grade and it metastasized to a stage 3 adenosarcoma with sarcomatous overgrowth. My whole world shattered .. that wasn’t the plan. I went from a stage 1 to a stage 3 in such a  short amount of time.

I had no choice chemotherapy was apart of my plan now. Since my cancer is so rare there’s barely any statistics and it’s 1% of all uterine cancers & then sarcomas are 1% of ALL CANCERS . I’m not asking for much just what you can do while I embark this journey! Thank you so much for your help!
