An Update Since December 2023
12/21/2024
Hello everyone,
Sophia (Isabel/Ingela’s sister) here! We’ve set up this page to provide updates on Isabel’s fight against cancer.
As some of you may know, Isabel relapsed in September 2024 just one month into remission. She has continued to unergo chemotherapy, but in November 2024 we learned that the chemotherapy treatment she was on was not working and she had relapsed again. Currently, she’s undergoing a third cycle of chemotherapy, which the doctors have told us has had a beautiful response (much better than anyone could have hoped for). From here, we are looking forward to a bone marrow transplant in January 2025 which will be the long-term curative option for Isabel. Her cancer is tough, but she is tougher.
While her cancer has reacted beautifully to this new chemotherapy she is undergoing, there have been some considerable side effects including neurotoxicity and lack of feeling/muscle weakness in her legs up to her waist, and in her hands. Since she’s unable to text people back right now, many of the updates you read here will either be written by one of our family members, or will be Isabel’s words transcribed by one of us.
She is one of the strongest people we know, and we look forward to sharing this journey with all of you. We also welcome any thoughts/prayers/good vibes and manifestations that she will beat this cancer once and for all, and go on to live a long, happy life.
All our love,
the Alvarados
