Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation (HCT) Transplant!

By on

Several have asked and now I have a way to share my story. I'm 24 years old and have an amazing 3 year old little boy Sawyer. We had finished his soccer game last September and I had a cough (covid was crazy during this time so I got an appointment at the urgent care) z-pack and on my merry way I went. The next week I still felt bad back to the urgent care this time the x-ray machine was down so they sent me across town to the new office and they did lab work. Then I had to get to the E.R. quickly my white blood cell count was dangerously high. I got to Grandview as quick as I could only to spend a week there and nobody knew what was wrong with me. The following weekend I spent at home trying to recover and the next Monday was when I got the news. I have AML (lekeumia) we were sent to UAB not sure how all this was going to work but I knew I had to fight. I spent a month doing chemo and trying to recover in the hospital at UAB. I was able to come home for Thanks giving and Christmas then I had to have another round of Chemo and spent another week in patient for that. In the middle of it all I came down with Covid which delayed my transplant as I had to have out patient chemo again. On March 23rd they were able to do a Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation (HCT) Transplant for me. This process is very long and lots of trips back to the doctors and hospital for more testing, labs, and evaluations. I'm very lucky I was able to match and my donor is 21yr and international based. I will not know any more information on him for another year due to hippa.

Please if you feel it in your heart to donate or share its greatly appreciated as this is a long and tough journey.

Thank you
