Hello
Im 60 years old, I was diagnosed with stage 3 MM after having a routine checkup with my primary care physician. When i was diagnosed I felt defeated. I was recently married 6 months prior to my finding out i had cancer. I felt like I was letting my family down because I knew the road ahead would cause a financial strain on my family. My wife has been very supportive, understanding and loving but i can see that the stress is taking over. I was diagnosed on April 5th and started receiving my treatments on 4/18, the same day my wifes father unexpectedly passed away. I was employed as a cement mixer driver but after suffering from severe back pain, shortness of breath and anemia, i was put on light duty and my hours were decreased to barely anything. My boss knew that i was the primary source of income for my family, so he tried to do what he could to keep some sort of income coming into our home. My wife is employed but she is not financially able to take care of everything alone. On June 30th i woke up to get ready for work and could not feel my legs, i tried to get out of bed but couldnt move at all. My wife called the ambulance and after having an MRI, i had to have emergency spinal surgery. Somehow i had developed a very bad staph infection that was growing on my spine, and this was causing paralysis. After this, my job terminated me! Due to this infection, all of my treatments for MM were put on hold, this also included my 1st appointment for my Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation (HCT) Transplantation (SCT) that was scheduled for July 19th.With medical bills, houehold bills an other necessities that we have we will need financial help . My wife is still working as much as possible, but she cant make the hours she normally makes because she is my only caretaker. We have an 11 year old son as well. Any donation, regardless to the amount would help us out and be very appreciated. I have applied for disability benefits but was told it can take 6 months before its approved.
