Hello everyone my name is Cecilia desselle, and I am a multiple myeloma survivor living in New York City. I would like to tell my story about my journey I went through having cancer. My Cancer journey started on October 22,2021,when I was admitted for a gastric ulcer hemorrhage, and I then found out that I was diagnosed with a disease of  Multiple myeloma, cancer of the bone marrow.

During my admission, I was extremely anxious and worried, since I didn't know what I had and why I wasn't feeling well. I was also missing my three kings at home, as a single mother, However with the support of my medical team and family and friends, I was encouraged to fight and get better. During my admission I started chemotherapy, which was difficult and scary. The side effects caused my body to go through changes that I didn't know what would happen.

I was in the hospital for three months, which was the longest time I have ever been, and also away from my home and my children.

Staying away from my children made me feel empty. Also I felt like I abandoned my children. As a patient going through a very serious stage of multiple myeloma  has been very hard and a rough journey going under treatment, and through the Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation (HCT) harvest made me feel scared and depressed with anxiety, but now that i have won the race and beat the cancer, i feel happy and much better and glad to be able to be with my family and friends again. My life is so  much better, and I'm able to interact with my children, enjoy family time, and sleep comfortably in my own bed.

And I would also like to say that I would like the help of my community friends and family to take the time out if you can to  donate what you can to help me by celebrating my achievement in honor of Multiple myeloma and give what you can. I would truly like to thank the Mount Sinai family for truly dealing with my attitude, and getting me back on my feet and healthy again. I always said I hate hospitals but this one is different. They truly showed that they are for the patients, and they really care. Mount Sinai is my family away from home.
