In October 2021, Camille was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. The disease can damage the bones, immune system, kidneys, and red blood cell count. She began to experience severe lower back and leg pain. Over the next several weeks she had steroid injections, Radio Frequency Ablation, and a nerve block which did not provide lasting relief. After a combined effort of her doctors in reviewing her CT Scan, MRI and bloodwork she was then given this diagnosis. The Multiple Myeloma had caused a growth on her sacrum and right hip and at the suggestions of her doctors she has had radiation on both her sacrum and right hip. She then continued with the first line of treatment for the disease. Now a year later she will be receiving an Autologous Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation (HCT) Transplantation at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida.
After the transplant she will be followed for the rest of her life to monitor the effects of the transplant.
The charges involved (medical and non-medical) are many and will continue after the transplant. With the help of her community, Camille has partnered with the Bone Marrow & Cancer Foundation's Carelines Program to help meet these expenses.
