Welcome to yaissa’s Carelines page! Thank you for coming to support yaissa in her journey of recovery. Here you can:

Hi friends!

my name is Yaissa best known as Jay, I’m a 28 years old wife and mother of two beautiful energetic babies age 4 and 6 years old.

for many sickle cells is a rare unknown disease but surprisingly SCD occurs among about 1 out of every 16,300 Hispanic-American births and because I love being unique here we are.

I was diagnosed with SCD at age 3, I have been battling this for many years in silence and grace but unfortunately SCD is progressing and my pain crisis are becoming more frequent, long and severe each time from losing mobility in my legs, arms, eye bleeds, 3 cases of pneumonia and many more. As some of you may or may not know in January 2, 2022 I had one of the worst pain crisis I ever experienced, I was in the hospital for 2 months with little to no hope, but thankfully recovered and was able to continue a somewhat “normal” life. Seeing the pain and fear in my family but specially my kids was a eye opener for me and because of this I decided to seek a “fix” for me and everything that is broken in me.

SOOO here we are facing a life changing opportunity but with this many challenges come to place from traveling expenses, being away from my kids and family for over 115 days, lodging, medications and the main one the cost of the transplant it self.

Allogeneic transplants are associated with increased cost, because, among other things, donors will need to be tested, placed under general anesthesia and admitted to an operating room so that bone marrow can be collected. A 2011 report on the cost of organ and tissue transplants by the actuarial and consulting firm Milliman found an allogeneic bone marrow transplant typically costs $805,400 total.

This is definitely more than my insure and savings so I’m asking anyone who would like to help during this process to join forces with me and my family to make this happen!!

My insurance will cover most of the transplant cost, but we are faced with all the other expenses associated with the process since this will take place 3 hours away from home at Vanderbilt in Nashville. I would need to pay out of packet for housing, meals, childcare, transportation among other things. Asking for help is not my forte but in his case the hope of better quality of life with my family is a must!!
