Reaching out to a Community of Support

Welcome to Kathryn’s Carelines page! Thank you for coming to support Kathryn in his journey of recovery. Here you can:

The evening of the first day of kindergartent for our daughter Michael was fixing a leak under our sink. He turned his head to come out and felt a snap and he couldn't move it. I took him to the local ER and after running some tests it was determined that a tumor had fractured his C2 vertebrae which they suspected was cancerous. We were sent from Murrells Inlet (where we live) to MUSC in the middle of the night and after a week there with multiple tests he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. He was placed in a MIami J collar for his neck had a round of radiation before being discharged on September 1st. He began his first of four cycles of chemo through injections and pill which he finished on December 5th. He will have to undergo a Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation (HCT) transplant at the end of January which will have them there for a month and then another 3-6 month recovery.
