Nancy had been fighting illnesses through 2023 and eventually became so sick she was admitted to the ICU at the end of August 2023 and diagnosed with Leukemia. This is where she made the decision to become a patient of MD Anderson in Houston, Texas and began the fight of her life. She was officially diagnosed with Acute Myeloblastic Leukemia. During this inpatient stay she was put through the ringer of testing, testing, more testing and intensive treatment. She battled sepsis, a severe blood infection and multiple cardiac issues during this first part. And kicked its butt! She has continued her fight with multiple rounds of chemotherapy and was classified as in remission! Great news, but not the end of her journey! She was able to go home for the holidays, but her fight didn’t stop, she continued her treatment back home and while being there, she was continuing the process of being enrolled into the bone marrow transplant program here at MD Anderson with the hopes of finding a donor. To her surprise, her brother was a 100% match! A few weeks ago she and her brother were admitted back into MD Anderson where they harvested HCT from her brother and after another round of chemotherapy, HCT were transplanted on January 26th 2024.
She got her Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation (HCT) transplant, but her fight is far from over. Nancy wil not be an inpatient this whole time, and will be seen on an outpatient basis once shes disharged from her transplant. What does this mean? This means that she will have to pay for lodging, food and travel expenses. This is all very costly. A fundraiser has been setup on this page, to help offset the costs for Nancy so she can focus on her treatment and getting better. We want to help alleviate the financial stress for her. Anything helps, if you are able to donate please consider doing so.
Nancy is a fighter and very appreciative of all the support and love she has recieved from family, friends and her community.
Thank you!
