Good afternoon! Please see Ryan’s update below:
I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving holiday! There is lots to be thankful for even during the struggles.
I started my new chemo combination of gemcitabine/abraxane on Monday last week. I also have chemo today and next Friday as well. It will be 3 weeks on and then one week off. I will have a CT scan again on January 29th.
I have had side effects in the form of neuropathy (nerve pain) in my legs. This has been painful in the days following chemo. We have worked to put together a plan with my integrative oncologist to hopefully minimize the neuropathy after chemo from now on. Hopefully this helps!
Since the last update I wrote and sang a song called Wash Me Away. Here is the link to the song: https://tinyurl.com/3u6c8h7r
I am by no means a singer, but I had a message I wanted to deliver. I am really proud of this song that details the struggles with cancer. I feel like this song can be for anybody though because we all go through tough crap in our lives. Are we going to just let it completely wash us away or are we going to take our hits from the wave? We have to keep moving and fighting! So enjoy and feel free to share. I made the song through the Play It Back Music Program which is a part of Teen Cancer America. Play It Back is a community created for AYA (adolescent and young adult) cancer patients and survivors who are interested in songwriting and producing as an opportunity for self expression. Yes, I am still considered young adult at 39.
Brooke and I also got to work with Project Purple again to share our story with pancreatic cancer. It was great to have Dino and Sam personally come out from Connecticut to meet with us at our house. It was very well done and captured the difficulties that pancreatic cancer has put on us as a family. Please check that out at this link: https://tinyurl.com/2p95zbnu
Thanks for your continued support of myself and our family!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Go Hawks!
Ryan
