Chemo #51 ✅
Feeling pretty good these past couple of weeks since we changed the schedule of chemo to every other week. This has allowed me a bit longer to recover between treatments.
My 40th birthday weekend got off to a great start. Brooke and I went to a great concert here in Iowa City last night for one of my favorite musicians named Adam Doleac. We saw him about 2 years ago at the Iowa State Fair and love his music. Check out “Puzzle of Us”; it’s our favorite song of his.
There has been a slight bump of 80 points in my CA-19 (tumor marker). This is a little concerning, as the overall trend over this past month has been going up. This would be less concerning if it had gone up one time and then come back down, but since it’s been two consecutive trends, it’s something the doctors are monitoring. There isn’t much to do right now as treatment changes are only dictated by what they see on scans. So, until the results of my scan in 2 weeks at Mayo, everything is status quo.
The PanCAN PurplesStride walk in Des Moines on April 27th went great. I was honored to be selected to give the Survivor Speech. You can see that here: https://youtu.be/K0UqMDdtz6M?si=14x0nhKj5OHnprpY. For my health updates, music and more click here: https://linktr.ee/RyanDwars.
We are still waiting to hear back on the trial at MSK. Check out my last update if you missed the info on this groundbreaking trial and what we’ve done to hopefully get me accepted for it. As you see on my shirt today, there is always HOPE! With my 40th birthday on Sunday (also Mother’s Day!), I’m grateful to still be here to celebrate this milestone.
Thanks for all of your continued prayers and support!!
Ryan
