See the update below from Ryan:
Hi everybody,
I am finishing my 4th chemo treatment with the new chemo. This is chemo treatment #39 overall.
I got some exciting news on Wednesday that my tumor marker went significantly down to 808! It was at 6,559 (@ UIHC) before treatment. While this is great news and seems to show that the chemo is working, I am cautiously optimistic thinking back to my other battles over the past 2 1/2+ years.
One of the areas that your donations are helping me with is keeping my body healthy with integrative medicine. My visits with my integrative oncologist and my supplements/medications are all out of pocket expenses and about $1,500 a month. Brooke and I can see with my labs and other counts that all of this work is keeping my body performing at the highest level. The integrative oncologist has me on a really great combination of medicine to help fight all of the chemo side effects.
One of the side effects I’ve been dealing with is something called Taxane Acute Pain Syndrome. This explains the intense pain I have in my legs on days 3-5 post chemo. It affects the joints in my knees and ankles and can cause pain and inflammation. The doctor gave me some heavy hitting pain meds and I’m hoping to make it through Christmas with minimal pain and feeling good. I am also trying icing my knees and calves because there is data that this helps. That is what I am doing in the picture along with wearing compression clothing.
In other news, I am 99% done with my song called “The Kids Don’t Understand”. The finishing touches are being put on it and then I will share it with you all. I also got Asher and Everlie to record parts for the song as well which was fun. It is a song, while funny, that is something that all parents will agree with. “The kids” should also enjoy the song too, because the beat goes hard and lyrics are catchy. I also really like bass as well.
We hope that everybody has a Merry Christmas! Enjoy your time with loved ones. Don’t take that time for granted. We love you all! ❤️
