I, Justin Blackwood, 22-year-old cancer survivor of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) am an outdoor enthusiast who loves hunting, fishing, and working on cars. I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my grandpa, and cherish my relationships with family and friends, including those that I have met through my journey with cancer. I have a strong support system that has been essential in my recent health battle. After being diagnosed with AML in June 2024, I was immediately admitted for over a month long of inpatient chemotherapy and now in remission. I am now headed towards the next phase of my treatment, which is to receive a Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation (HCT) transplant. Thankfully, my sister, and best friend since birth was a 100% match to be my donor.
As I prepare for the next phase of treatment, it will require a 120-stay in Los Angeles, two hours away from my hometown. Creating a financial hardship not just for myself, but for my mother or other family that will be by my side every step of the way to oversee my care. Obviously due to the length of stay it will create a financial hardship with the many expenses that come with being displaced: lodging, nutrition, costs of everyday living/necessities, and all other expenses while trying to maintain two living environments (temporary lodging and “home” expenses that do not stop when you are away).
Given the situation there is no financial offering that is too big or small. Any financial support will make a significant impact as I navigate this process. Thank you for all support, emotional, spiritual, physical, and financial! Your prayers and kind words during this challenging time matter.
Please continue to pray for me and my family. My mom says I am a strong man, great kid, best son, and fighter, but she is kind of biased. Thank you whole heartedly!!
