Reaching out to a Community of Support

Welcome to Sheila’s Carelines page! Thank you for coming to support Sheila in her journey of recovery. Here you can:

I am a woman of strong faith, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who has lived a wonderful, purposed filled life.  In July 2022, I was diagnosed with Multiple Myleloma blood cancer after a routine annual doctor's visit revealed some alarming test results. My family physician immediately referred me to an oncologist and so began my cancer journey. After a year of treatment including various chemo and immunological therapies, I had a bone marrow transplant in August of 2023.  I, and my family, recieved incrediable support during this time, including prayers, meals, visits, financial support and encouragment.
Although the cancer has had periods of remission, it is aggressive and we are now embarking on a new treatment: Car T therapy, which new kind of is a T-cell transplant.  The treatment is costly and requires caregiver (my husband and eldest daughter) and I stay near the Indiana Bone Marrow Transplant facility when I am not hosptialized for weeks at a time 3 hours away from my home.  While I have been able to work full time througIout much of the past 3 years, a great toll has been taken on our family finances and we have exhausted all savings.  Funding, such as grants, that were available in the past is no longer available, This course of treatment will restrict me from working or driving for at least 2 months and I have exhausted all paid off on past treatments. I am seeking support for housing, food, travel expenses between South Bend and Indianapolis as well as medical bills, co-pays and deductibles, I and my famliy are eternally grateful for any way that you are able to help during this challenging part of our journey.
