Hi, my name is Dan, and we are facing the toughest challenge of our lives. Other than my family and closest friends know, I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a rare and serious cancer that affects the blood and bones which currently has no cure. Since starting treatment two and a half years ago our world has changed dramatically — my health, my strength, and my ability to work have all been impacted.
The treatments are aggressive, and while they’re giving me a chance to fight this disease, they’ve also taken a toll on my body and our finances. Between the cost of medications, frequent hospital visits with 5-10 day stays, and the day-to-day living expenses that don’t stop for cancer, we are struggling to keep up. I am already on my 4th line of treatment, including a bone marrow transplant, weekly infusions and injections with chemotherapy medications, immunotherapy and now getting ready for Car-T therapy which involves a 3-5 week hospital stay. I have been under the amazing care of the Bone Marrow and Transplant Team and St. Louis University Hospital.
I’ve always tried to be self-sufficient and help others when I could, but right now, I need help myself. Your donation — no matter the size — will go directly toward covering essential needs such as housing, utilities, transportation to appointments, medical expenses and other living expenses so we can focus fully on my treatment and recovery.
If you can’t donate, sharing our story means the world to us. Every gesture of kindness brings us hope and strength in this fight.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for standing with us in this battle against multiple myeloma.
With gratitude,
Dan and Monika
