Dear family and friends,
At the age of 35, after ignoring pain in my in left side for several weeks, I was admitted to the hospital where she was diagnosed with a portal vein thrombosis and varices in her esophagus, stomach, and colon. She was also diagnosed with a rare JAK2 mutation and myeloproliferative neoplasm, a blood cancer. She was started on Hydrea and warfarin and these worked well for a couple of years but eventually her blood tests started coming back with elevated levels again. After a trip to the Cleveland Clinic and the Mayo Clinic she was started on a new FDA approved medication, Jakafi. This new medication had minimal results. After several medication changes and failing them all, it was decided that a bone marrow transplant was the only option left that could help. I was admitted to the hospital on Thasgiving last year. The transplant took place about a week after admission, after a very strong chemo regimen. My immune system was completely wiped out and I had to have numerous blood transfusions. I got to come home two days before Christmas with home health and IV’s. I was readmitted to the hospital right after Christmas for failure to thrive. After that recovery was tough but I was battling my way through it. Until July when it was determined that I have GVHD (rejection). I’m in a battle with GVHD now.
I have been happily married for 25 years and the mother of fifteen year old twin boys. Myself and my family are in need of financial help during this difficult time for insurance co-pays, deductibles, medical bills and prescriptions. Any contribution no matter how small will be greatly appreciated. God Bless
