Late Wednesday night Kristin finished her first course of chemotherapy. For those of you interested in such things, it was called a "7+3" which consisted of 2 different chemo drugs administed over the course of a week. This chemotherapy course required her to be hooked up to the IV pump 24/7 for the full 7 days. Upon completion of her 7+3, she immediatly began an additional 14 day course of directed chemotherapy treatment to address her FLT3 mutation. While she has been receiving chemo, she has regularly needed transfusions of both blood and platlets. Kristin is handling the chemo side effects like a boss, and all of her pertinent numbers are respoonding to the treatment as expected. She will remain an inpatient here at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis for the next 3 weeks or so.
