Reaching out to a Community of Support

June 3rd

By on

How does one person even begin to express the overwhelming graditute towards so many people who have more than just supportive but have provided emotional, spiritual, positive guidance, and laughter during such a dark journey? It's not a written check, a card in the mail, or a lengthened hug when you just can't seem to let go, it is so much more than that. Friends that drop their weekend plans to pull some weeds or fix our fence, a church friend who offers to just sit and have coffee on the deck or the endless joy shared for our baby girl's arrival any day. I am so emotionally astonished with each and every out pouring of true love from so many different areas of our lives, family, friends, church, co-workers. It is almost, dare I say more to process than the actual navigation of the illiness itself and I'm not the one sick! But in all seriousiness, Thank You everyone for every little thing, it is much bigger than you might think. On an update aspect, we spoke to Stanford this afternoon and everything is still on track for the transplant and there are only a few more test to get done before admission to the hospital. Kevin's brother was tested for a donor match and results determined he is a  5/10 match, and a search through the donor network has found 2 additional matches of 9/10. These two donors will recieve an updated screening and lab test to determine current health status and qualifications. After this the best donor will be chosen for Kevin's Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation (HCT) transplant. We have come so far and are anxious to move to the next step towards his recovery. We'll continue with news as the schedule becomes more tangible. Please continue the prayers and thoughts for our family. And keep checking back for birthday for little one, eviction date is set for June 14th, so send me all the wishes for a smooth, healthy, less painful (lol) birth.
