Kevin has been out of the hospital for over a week now and I'd like to say is doing well but we just continue to be hit with challenges. He is currently battling a dry cough that is presistant and causes him to have several coughing fits a day. CT results concluded he has an infection and must now take antibiotic as well as an inhaler to relieve the symptoms. Thankfully eating seems to show signs of success, keeping down simple foods of a modest quanity. With the help of his caregivers Tim and Stephen he is being given a variety of meals and snacks to keep his strength up. I will never be able to thank them enough in my lifetime for the attention and patience they are giving him to ensure he continues to stay on the path to healing.
Here at home we have also been run through the ringer. First the boys had a short cough that I was thankful only lasted the weekend but now wish that was the only difficulty. A few days after returning home from Kevin's visit Watson's eye appeared red, being causious of conjunctivitis I kept him home from school and it resovled shortly with no trouble. Again I wish that was the only difficulty because the day prior to leaving for a long awaited trip I began to show symptoms of conjunctivitis and within hours my eye was swollen and goopy. With the help of telemed I was on board with antibiotics, thank goodness because the next morning my eye was completely swollen shut. What more could we take? Glad you asked because even though we went on the trip and had a fabulous time, the day of our return Grandma showed signs of conjuctivitis! Before arriving home after a 3 hour drive she had an extremely red, swollen, draining eye. Hello good friend antibiotic. But wait there's more. Before bed that night Ember at just 2 1/2 months old, that's right you guessed it, had goop in her eye (yells some carefully choosen words into the abyss). Again thank you telehealth at 9 at night for over an hour, she got her own bottle of antibiotics. Antibiotics for everyone! So as we all swin in the endless sea of antibiotics, we are healing. The greatest blessing is we were able to recieve all these prescriptions at a decent price because our insurance/PTO through Kevin's work ran out Aug 31st. When it rains....well you know. We are now signed up for COBRA and back on track with benefits gratefully because with Kevin and these three kids it's always a game of chutes and latters.
Now to end on a postive note, there is always beauty in this world. Our trip up to Reno was a much needed get away filled with laughs, smiles, tears and joy. Watching my children enjoy the enormous hot air balloons assending into the sky brought literal tears to my eyes. My heart ached for my love to be with us and sadden at the thought of all that he is missing in this "short" amount of time. But I have to shed those tears and rejoice that God is good and has given me so much to look forward to when Kevin does finally return home. Please continue your prayers and well wishes. I cannot deny the emotion that is still felt with each and every donation or gift given to my family. We are immursed with love and support, thank you.
