Nikki

Following a medical procedure in March 2014, Nikki was scheduled for a follow-up X-Ray. The X-Ray revealed that she had lesions on her spine. After further testing, Nikki was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. She immediately went back to work as a home health nurse, but suffered a broken lower back with two fractured discs. Due to her illness, Nikki’s bones were very fragile. She lost her job in May and is unclear if or when she can return to work.
In early June, she began chemotherapy treatment which continued through September. Nikki is currently undergoing stem cell harvesting and her autologous transplant will take place any day now. These sudden medical changes and financial hardships have created unprecedented stressors for Nikki and her family. Prior to her diagnosis, she was able to financially support herself and two adult children who live with her. Now, she relies on the support of her mother and daughter. Nikki’s greatest financial stressor is transportation expenses to and from the hospital. This expense will continue as her procedure approaches and her appointments increase.
Nikki is teaming up with the Bone Marrow & Cancer Foundation so family and friends can make tax-deductible donations to be utilized towards these treatment-related expenses. Any assistance given will assist Nikki tremendously.
