Data Collection
This site collects two types of information:
- Standard Web server traffic pattern information. General traffic and site usage information is collected and stored in log files. This type of information may be shared with third parties only on an aggregated basis, for advertising or promotional purposes.

We collect personally identifiable information from you only when you provide it to us voluntarily and knowingly: when you sign up for SupportLine, request publications or information, make a contribution or purchase event tickets or products. If you do not make a request, donation, purchase, or otherwise identify yourself, we will have no personally-identifiable information about you.
If you provide personal information and indicate your interest in receiving information from the BMCF, we may enter your name into our constituent database and contact you in order to: supply you with information including bone marrow transplant-related health news; BMCF programs, events and services; or to request voluntary time or monetary contributions.
- We collect the email addresses of those who communicate with us by email, and may enter those into our constituent database. If your name is entered into the database, we may contact you for the reasons described above.
Use of Information Collected
the Bone Marrow & Cancer Foundation does not share any of your personal information with third parties (with the exception of SupportLine mentor/seeker contacts as specifically requested by site visitors). The BMCF’s mailing lists (email and postal) are never sold to or shared with third parties, except to the extent necessary to comply with applicable laws, police investigations, or in legal proceedings where such information is relevant.
The BMCF does allow access to database information by third parties providing technical services, such as email. In those instances, the third party is bound by these terms and have agreed to hold this information in confidence.
Security
the Bone Marrow & Cancer Foundation does not maintain any of the information provided by donors on this website. All financial transactions are handled securely by PayPal, a PCI compliant site encrypted with obsolete cryptography and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption. Encryption keeps your contribution and payment information from being decoded by anyone other than the Bone Marrow & Cancer Foundation. All personal data is sent directly to The BMCF and maintained securely in our office database.
Our website also has security measures to protect it from spam and abuse. We use an advanced risk analysis engine to keep automated software from engaging in abusive activities on the site.
Your Options
We respect your privacy and recognize that you wish to limit or change the ways in which we contact you. At any time, you can opt-out of communication from the BMCF by letting us know using the form on the Contact page. If you contact us with an opt-out request, all reasonable efforts will be taken to ensure that you will not receive any of the selected communications from us in the future.
Use of Cookies
For most site visitors, we do not use cookies, small files that are sent to your web browser and stored on your computer’s hard drive. The only use of cookies is for “Experts” who log in to the Ask the Expert area of the site. It is just used to determine access privileges and session activity. Most browsers are initially set to accept cookies. If you are logging in as an Expert, you can set yours to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent. However, it is possible that some parts of the Ask The Expert area will not function properly if you do so.
