Tracy Jolley

 

Tracy describes herself as a country girl and loves to be outdoors. She will be married to her wonderful husband, Gary, for 35 years in June. Tracy has two children, a 31-year-old daughter and a 23-year-old son. She also has two grandsons, a 3-year-old and 3-month-old. Tracy loves to fish, work in her garden, and just about anything outdoors. What she loves most of all is spending time with her grandkids and family.
On March 29, 2014, Tracy had a bleeding ulcer in the rectum that had to be repaired by surgery. She spent a week in ICU and while there, her doctor scheduled a CAT scan. Tracy was seen by a gastroenterologist who diagnosed her with Crohn’s disease. From the CAT scan, the doctors noticed dark spots on her pelvic bones. She was sent to an oncologist, had tests run, and was referred to a specialist. Tracy then had to have a bone marrow biopsy. She was diagnosed October 6, 2014 with stage 2 multiple myeloma and started chemotherapy treatments on October 15, 2014. Tracy was 52 years old at the time of diagnosis.
Tracy was set up with chemotherapy treatments every week for 16 weeks. She had to contact her aunt to be her caregiver. Her aunt drives Tracy weekly 120 miles to and from treatments to the cancer center. Tracy talked to her family and tried to explain what was going to happen. She tried to reassure them that she was going to be okay.
This journey has been a daily struggle for Tracy, but she has learned to take one day at a time and one problem at a time. Her faith has helped her cope through the unknown.
Tracy is unable to work now and her husband, who works in construction, will not go back to work until spring or maybe even early summer. She has to buy gas for each trip to the treatment center, has a balance at the hospital, and could also use assistance with mortgage and utilities. To cover these costs, Tracy and her family have teamed up with the Bone Marrow & Cancer Foundation to open a One-to-One Fund. Your generosity will greatly benefit Tracy and her family!
