Daynian Tyler

 

In February 2013, Daynian began experiencing itchiness, rashes, and swelling all over his body. A few months later in June, he was diagnosed with Plasmacytoid Blastic Dendritic Cell Leukemia. Daynian’s body swelled up to the size of a linebacker and he was put in ICU on a respirator. His doctors informed him only 200 people in the world have been diagnosed with this rare and aggressive type of leukemia and the only chance of survival was a bone marrow transplant. Most doctors who Daynian and his family met with told him that his prognosis was poor.
On May 23, 2014, Daynian received a cord blood transplant at City of Hope Hospital in Los Angeles. Although the transplant has provided him a second chance at life, he now has significant financial concerns and lots of challenges. He requires a special diet, as well as 24-hour care and lots of prayer.
Daynian is devoted to his 3-year-old daughter, loves to joke around and is described as “the life of the family” by his mother. He has remained positive and charismatic even throughout this ordeal. Daynian and his family have teamed up with the Bone Marrow & Cancer Foundation in order to raise funds through the One-to-One Funds program. These funds would help alleviate financial concerns related to living expenses, high insurance premiums and transportation to the hospital for follow-up visits.
