Paul and his family

Paul is described by his family as always putting others first. As a child, he looked after his father who was wheelchair-bound due to a rare neurological disease. As a single father himself, Paul often worked two to three jobs to support his four children. In addition, he has been active in his small community in New Mexico, including working as a member of an organization that gives shoes to needy children and helping to bring in a local business to help provide jobs to hundreds of people.
Unfortunately, in April of 2012, Paul was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and he has embarked on a journey he never expected. In order to treat his AML, Paul needed to resign from his job of 20 years and leave his home in New Mexico. Paul had to temporarily to relocate to California, so he could receive a bone marrow transplant this past November. He is required to stay in California for multiple months until he is well enough to travel back to his home in New Mexico.
After countless blood and platelet transfusions, side effects from chemotherapy and radiation, and a bone marrow transplant, Paul is slowly improving each day. With his wonderful sense of humor and the love of his family and friends Paul is fighting the fight, but he is also struggling with the expenses related to the transplant. In order to help cover the cost of co-payments and temporary living expenses in California, Paul’s family has teamed with the Bone Marrow & Cancer Foundation to set up this One-to-One Fund on his behalf. They would greatly appreciate any donation that will help Paul continue to fight and recover.
